Summerland Tour: Everclear, Soul Asylum, & more!
Though Everclear's Northwestern grunge-punk style was hardly revolutionary when the band rose to popularity in 1995, the trio's hook ridden songs and Art Alexakis' "us against them" lyrics were taken to heart by bored Gen-X teens. Everclear's sound reflects the rock, post-punk, and singer/songwriter influences of frontman Alexakis, including acts like X, the Replacements, the Pixies, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Elvis Costello. Also instrumental to Everclear's success was the group's obsessive touring schedule and aggressive self-promotion tactics.
ABOUT SOUL ASYLUM:
It's been six years since Soul Asylum has issued a new album. But as evidenced by the arrival of 'Delayed Reaction' (the group's first release for 429 Records), the wait was most certainly worth it. Fans will be happy to discover the group's trademark ragged-but-right sound is still very much intact, and that they've turned back the clock to the good old days when full albums actually mattered - rather than just a smattering of singles padded with filler. And the proof is in the pudding - such tunes as "Gravity," "The Streets" and "By the Way" prove that Soul Asylum has created an incredibly consistent album from front to back.
ABOUT EVE 6:
Eve 6 weren’t even legal drinking age when they were presented with their first platinum record. Thus, life came hard and fast at the members of SoCal pop-punk trio, whose meteoric success in the late ‘90s and early millennium ingrained their anthemic radio hits into the fabric of the lives of a whole generation. Then, it all sort of ended…until now. Reunited and re-energized, the band has returned with album Speak In Code eight years after parting ways in 2004. As the fourth full-length release for Eve 6 and their debut on new label Fearless Records, the album heralds not just a return to form for the threesome, but a new chapter in a book that had ended all too abruptly.
In 1994, SPACEHOG, with original band members, the Langdon brothers – Royston and Antony, Jonny Cragg & Richard Steel became quickly infamous for their legendary East Village gigs. Their sound was so very different from the neo-grunge movement of the early 90’s, that within a short time, they signed a cocktail napkin deal with the famed record exec, Seymour Stein and the Sire label. Recently, Timo Ellis joined the band on guitar as Antony Langdon continues his cinematic pursuits. In 2013, Spacehog created a new collection of tunes, once again produced by Bryce Goggin. As It Is On Earth is available now.
